Introducing Sloanie... the sustainable underwear brand you need!
Introducing your new favourite sustainable intimates brand, Sloanie. We reached out to the co-founder to find out more about the brand and what it has to offer. The more we’re finding out, the more we love. Keep reading to get to find out everything you need to know about Sloanie!

Tell us your name, your title and a bit about Sloanie.
I’m Francesca, Co-founder and Chief Brand Officer. Sloanie is a sustainable basics brand that revolves around minimalism, comfort, and natural materials.

All your pieces are so clean and minimal in their aesthetic - how do you get inspired when designing new pieces?
We are always trying to create the most comfortable and flattering pieces possible. We have found that minimalism is usually the way to achieve these goals, resulting in our core line of super-soft underwear that will keep you comfy all day long.

For us here at Aequem sustainability and style are key. Tell us what sustainability means to you and your company?
It means being conscious of our impact on the environment at each stage of our production process, and acting to reduce that impact where possible. This involves everything from choosing more sustainable and natural fibres, right through to delivering your pieces in plastic-free, 100% recycled and/or recyclable packaging. At the heart of Sloanie is the idea that you don’t need to compromise on quality or comfort in order to make a sustainable choice. That’s why we choose materials like TENCEL Modal: it’s three times softer than cotton, yet far less water intensive in its production.

We love how timeless every Sloanie piece is. How did you develop this aesthetic?
These timeless styles are a conscious choice… in an era of fast fashion we decided to do things differently. So, we focused on colours and shapes that are perfect for every occasion.

How or where do you like to wear your pieces?

Every day, everywhere! Our team has worn them while surfing in Santa Monica, sunbathing in Greece, and in our daily lives in London. That’s what’s so great about investing in comfortable, natural basics: they make every morning a little brighter, and every day a lot comfier.

Okay, so now more about you… What’s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?
In the warmer months I try to go for a run in Hyde Park before starting the day. During Winter I stay in the warm for breakfast, then take a shower and check my emails over a cup of coffee.

If you could wear only one thing for the rest of your life what would it be? (not including your fave pieces from your label, obviously.)
A wool camel coat that I took from my grandma’s closet years ago. I find that a nice camel coat is definitely a wardrobe staple!

If you were a celebrity, who would you be?
Charlotte Casiraghi – she is so beautiful and I have always loved her style.

Out of your current collection, which is your favourite piece and why?
Our Kali Low Scoop Bralette is my favourite. It’s so comfortable that I find myself wearing it all the time, even at the gym. For men, I love our Dylan trunks. They’re such a timeless, sleek style.

It has been great getting to know more about you and your work, if you could give one piece of advice to our readers to take away with them, what would it be?
Underwear is such an intimate piece of clothing. When buying new pieces, check that they’re free from harmful chemicals, and are predominantly made from natural materials. You deserve comfortable, natural underwear!

All the Sloanie pieces are available here on Aequem.
