Your Sustainable Guide to Notting Hill Carnival
It is finally that time of the year again and the excitement in London is stirring. One of our favourite London events of the summer will soon be here- Notting Hill Carnival!
On August 25thand 26thin the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea close to two million people will gather to celebrate the lively, colorful Caribbean heritage throughout the streets of Notting Hill. Live reggae and samba music will blast through the air, jerk chicken and goat stew street vendors will line the streets, and rum drinks will be in everyone’s hands. It is an event that any Londoner will not want to miss.
The extravaganza embodies exactly what Caribbean history is: a lively culture rooted in the beauty of life, colour and community. To best celebrate the crazy creativity of the Caribbean all festival goers cover themselves in vivid colour from head to toe. Here are our favourite Aequem Notting Hill Carnival looks for looking great and staying sustainable while doing it:
Our Fiery Girl look is for the girl that is here for the good time. Much like the festival, she lights up the room with her bright palette that features a gorgeous love affair of warm and cool tones. She wears the Pike Orange Top in Canvas paired with the Kelp Orange Trousers so she can move and dance with ease. To give her Caribbean look a vibrantly cool toned flair, she accessories her outfit with the Fish Tank Scarf in Organic Silk.
The Golden Goddess elevates any event with her elegant and glowing presence. At Carnival, she shines amongst the crowd. She wears the Elongate Yellow Dress with the Beatrice Hoops and Beatrice Necklace as accessories to give an extra sparkle to her look and compliment the golden hues in her dress.
Our Flower Power girl is the life of the party and the embodiment of natural femininity. She wears the Kombi Short Playsuit with the Bandit Headband, both dual tonal florals that contrast one another yet work beautifully together to create a strong look. She adds the Octopussy Rings to tie in the look with a flair of elegance.
The Minimalist Chic girl stays sustainable by keeping it all simple. She wears the Wave Trousers as her Caribbean statement flair with the Oarweed Top in Knit. She carries the Enchanted Forest Clutch with her to tie in the light palette with a little shine.
As usual, the Boho Babe is carefree and colorful. She creates an elevated, tribal look by pairing the Kat Summer Top with the Serrated Blue Trousers. Her accessory, a must have in her closet, is the Chunky Bracelet.
The Vibrant Vibes look plays off a rich, deep royal blue seen in the Kipants with the light-hearted Loose Crop Top. The look screams vibrancy yet translates appealingly to the eye. The Amaya Clutch in Black ties the outfit together with its Caribbean appeal.
We hope you enjoy Carnival with these outstanding looks! Stay colourful, stay lovely, and stay forever crazy.
