How to make your own beauty products at home - All Natural Homemade Beauty

We’re sure everyone will agree with us when we say the past few weeks have been a whirlwind – not the good kind. Whilst we think of our families and the most vulnerable in our society, we lock ourselves away in our homes for the foreseeable future. This is an incredible thing to do for our community and we here at Aequem want to provide you with loads of inspiration and things you can do from the comfort of your own home! Time to make some homemade beauty!!
Fortunately, there are natural remedies for pretty much all beauty products and rumour has it, most are more effective than their chemically inclined counterparts. The best part is you don’t need a million and one ingredients to get started, it can be a simple as you want!
Natural Beauty Staple Products
These are great to have on hand if you’re in the mood for a homemade pamper.
Coconut Oil
Save money by buying in bulk! Excellent for hair and dry skin in need of repair.
Shea Butter
This is incredibly nourishing for the skin and has natural antibacterial properties.
Beeswax
A natural thickening agent perfect for using in bars, lotions and lip balms.
Cocoa Butter
Another butter with an great scent, mixed with citrus for lotion or face cream.
Essential oils
Mixing different natural ingredients together can produce interesting smells. Keep essential oils on hand to give a great natural scent.

In need of some homemade TLC? Here are the recipes you’re after…
Sugar Scrub
1 cup of sugar (organic, pure cane, brown pure cane)
3 tablespoons of almond oil, jojoba or extra virgin olive oil.
1 tsp of vanilla extract
A few drops of vitamin E oil and your favourite essential oil scent
Juice of half a small lemon
Put sugar in container and mix your oil in one tablespoon at a time to create a sandy consistency. Use as the last step when showering to leave your skin soft and supple!
Dry Shampoo
2 tablespoons of arrowroot powder or cornstarch
2 tablespoons of additional colouring powder or choice (cocoa, cinnamon)
6 drops of essential oil
Combine all ingredients in container with tight lid. Apply to hair where needed using a clean make-up brush and comb through. For those days when you need a bit of extra help.
Face Mask
½ ripe avocado
½ ripe banana
1 teaspoon of plain organic yoghurt
1 teaspoon of honey
Mash your fruits together into a smooth paste, then add the yoghurt and honey. Apply to your face and wash off after 10 minutes. Voila…
